After a four year break, popular presenter Virginia O’Beirne is back with her former show Walawaani, every Thursday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm.

Meaning hello, goodbye and safe journey in the Dhurga language, Walawaani will feature all Aboriginal music including current hits and past classics. Virginia also plans to air guest interviews including locals from Wreck Bay and the surrounding area.

“It has been four years since I’ve been on air with Walawaani and I am excited to be back, I have missed it,” Virginia said.

“I will be playing new music like the band King Stingray whose song is currently being used for the rugby league ad on Channel Nine – Anthony Albanese actually voted for them in Triple J Hottest 100.”

“I would also like to do more interviews. Richard Franklin is someone I would really like to talk to as he is a very astute man who has done film directing, been in the army, is a singer/songwriter and an Aboriginal activist.”

“There is also a great local band from Sanctuary Point who I would love to get back on the show again. Last time they were here, they were singing and jamming – it was great!”
